Sarah Yvonne Wachera

Unlike her younger brothers, Sarah Yvonne Wachera did not carry visible injuries on her body—but the toll of neglect was still clear. She appeared pale, weak, and undernourished, her eyes reflecting the stress of a difficult and unstable childhood.

Sarah’s mother, who struggled with mental illness, was unable to care for her or her siblings. Though Sarah had no physical scars, she was in urgent need of care, protection, and a safe home.

Her case, along with her brothers Brandon Njoroge and Jayden Kamau, came to light through the intervention of police officers who rescued the children and referred them to Mary Faith Children’s Centre. There, Sarah began to receive nutritious meals, stability, and emotional support, which were just as critical for her as the medical treatment her siblings required.

Today, Sarah’s story stands as a reminder that not all wounds are visible. Though she bore no physical marks, the neglect she endured required healing of a different kind—through love, stability, and compassionate care. Together with her brothers, Sarah now has the chance to grow in a safe environment and dream of a brighter future.
