James Ng’ang’a’s journey to Shiphrah Centre is one of resilience, courage, and hope.
When James first came to the Centre, he was a fragile boy in desperate need of shelter, care, and protection. His young life had already been filled with hardship. His mother, struggling with alcoholism, was unable to provide the safety and stability that every child deserves. Together, they often slept outside in the cold, exposed to hunger, sickness, and fear.
At the time he arrived, James was unwell his small body weakened not only by illness, but also by the emotional toll of living without a safe place to call home. Despite the pain in his eyes, there was also a quiet strength, a determination to survive and hope for something better.
Shiphrah Centre welcomed James with open arms. For the first time in a long time, he experienced the warmth of a bed, the security of a roof over his head, and the kindness of people who cared deeply about his well-being. Slowly, with medical care, nutritious meals, and emotional support, James began to heal.
The transformation was not immediate, but it was powerful. With consistent love and protection, James started regaining his health and his smile. The Centre became not just a shelter, but a home where he could dream again of going to school, making friends, and building a future free from the shadows of his past.
