Benson Mwinamia

Benson Mwinamia came to Shiphrah Centre at a time when his life was full of grief and uncertainty. After the painful loss of his mother, Benson’s world was shaken. Without her care and protection, he became unstable, weighed down by stress and sadness.

At first, Benson was taken in by his aunt. But caring for him proved to be too difficult, his condition and emotional struggles were more than she could manage. Unable to cope, she took him to his grandmother. The grandmother, though loving, also struggled to provide the care and stability Benson desperately needed.

Seeing the depth of his need, the grandmother sought help from the Children’s Department. By this time, Benson was not only without proper shelter, but he also struggled to communicate effectively, making his situation even more fragile.

The Children’s Department intervened and made the decision to bring Benson, together with his siblings Ibrahim Gathirwa and Mercy Njeri, to Shiphrah Centre.

At Shiphrah, Benson finally found the stability, care, and protection he had been missing. He was given shelter, consistent meals, and a safe environment where he could begin to heal from his loss. Slowly, with support and love, he started to rebuild his confidence and develop better communication skills.

Today, Benson’s life is a story of hope after loss. Though the pain of his mother’s death left him vulnerable, the care he and his siblings received at Shiphrah Centre gave them a chance to dream again. His journey shows that even in the face of grief and rejection, a child can be restored through compassion and community.
