Jephithah Karanja

Jephithah Karanja’s childhood began with a painful sacrifice. After his father was released from jail, instead of rebuilding the family, he rejected Jephithah. Faced with this harsh reality, Jephithah’s mother was torn between keeping her son close or holding onto her marriage. In the end, she chose to let her child go rather than lose her husband.

It was a heartbreaking decision one no mother should ever have to make. Out of desperation and love, she searched for a place where Jephithah would be safe, cared for, and given the chance she could not provide at home. Her search led her to Shiphrah Centre.

Jephithah was brought to the Centre at a tender age, carrying with him the heavy weight of rejection. But here, he was met with compassion, acceptance, and stability. Shiphrah Centre became a home where he could heal, grow, and experience the love that had been denied to him.

With consistent care, education, and emotional support, Jephithah slowly began to thrive. The sadness of being let go by his mother was gradually replaced with hope, resilience, and the assurance that he belonged somewhere.

Today, Jephithah’s story is one of transformation. Though his early years were marked by rejection, the love and care at Shiphrah Centre gave him a new beginning. His life is a testimony that even when a child is let go, they can still rise and find a family in a community that chooses to love them.
