David Sesi Maina

David Sesi Maina’s early childhood was marked by abandonment and neglect. When he was found, he was in bad shape, hungry, weak, and in desperate need of medical care, shelter, and protection.

Together with his sister Lavender, David’s life took a turn when a Good Samaritan found the children and took them to the nearest police station. From there, their case was referred to the Dagoretti Sub-County Children’s Department, who recognized the urgency of their situation.

The Children’s Department made the decision to place both David and Lavender at Shiphrah Centre, where they could finally receive the care they had been missing.

At Shiphrah, David was welcomed with warmth and compassion. He was given food to restore his strength, medical attention to address his health needs, and a safe home where he and his sister could stay together. Slowly, he began to recover, finding stability after the trauma of being abandoned.

Today, David’s story is one of hope after hardship. Though his beginnings were filled with rejection and suffering, the love and care he and Lavender found at Shiphrah Centre opened the door to healing and a brighter future. Their journey is a testimony that no child is too broken to be restored when compassion steps in.
